Mission

The overall aim of the Finance Committee is to provide oversight to the Division 44’s finances and recommendations to the EC on potential corrective or new avenues for the budget or finances. The committee will examine and periodically review the budget, financial forecasts, and anticipated funding streams, and make recommendations to the full EC for changes to the management or operation of the Division's finances.

The Finance Committee shall be chaired by the Secretary-Treasurer with all three Presidents (past, current, elect) serving as members. Other individuals, chosen by the Secretary-Treasurer and approved by the current President, may also serve as members. The committee shall not replicate the duties of the Secretary-Treasurer, but will offer guidance and specific matters for decision-making to the Executive Committee on matters relevant to fund-raising, budget management, portfolio management and other financial issues.

Recent activities

The Committee has met several times by phone to examine where the division is financially taking into account the past, current status and projected status of the finances.

The Committee formed a Fund-Raising Task Force to examine potential revenue streams and that Task Force has reported to the Committee and the EC on prospective avenues to raise more funds.

Upcoming activites will include:

  • Reviewing the P & P Manual and Bylaws pertaining to budgeting, finance, investments, accounting, income tax reporting, etc.
  • Discussing the P & P Manual, Bylaws, and other items members wish to raise.
  • Developing recommendations for the EC to consider.
